SHAMCI is now trusted to be the official quality certification scheme for thermal products in the Egyptian markets, next to Solar keymark according to the latest decision of the Egyptian Industry ministry.
The decision obliges the manufacturers and importers of SWH products to refer to the Egyptian General Organization for Standardization and Quality (EOS) to evaluate and certify the quality and performance of the products before they are introduced to the market.
MR. Ashraf Afifi, EOS general manager, states that SHAMCI quality mark will be granted by the Egyptian General Organization for Standardization and Quality (EOS), which is the exclusive certification body concerned by the adoption and implementation of SHAMCI program in Egypt according to the relevant cooperation agreement concluded between EOS and RCREEE. Mr. Ashraf Afifi confirmed also that this decision is giving 1year grace period to the importers and manufacturers in order to rearrange the registries situation.
EOS main role will be to evaluate the conformity of those solar thermal products according to SHAMCI program, the first Arab quality certification scheme for solar thermal products and services, that was initiated by the Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE) in cooperation with the League of Arab states (LAS) and the Arab Organization for Industrial Development and Mining (AIDMO).
